Fareast was founded to build International Optimist Dinghies. With the Optimist's tight manufacturing tolerances, many exposed finished surfaces and notoriously demanding consumers, it turned out to be the ideal boat for showcasing Fareast's engineering ability, quality control and attention to detail. Very quickly Fareast became well known for quality and consistent construction, becoming the largest Optimist builder in the world and producing up to 1/3 of all Optimists worldwide.

With a solid reputation for quality and longevity, Fareast has been chosen as the official supplier to many World and Continental Championships.
